Nature Photography and Stock Photography of Artmuse.Net - happy new year image

Artmuse.net photography and art was created and launched in 1999. At its inception, Artmuse was intended as an easy way for friends, supporters and customers to see Jean Touboul's photography and abstract paintings.

Since then, the site has gone through many changes and expanded to include a great number of art and photography pages as Jean's body of work grew and our photographic ambitions got bigger. As a result we've switched to a new server that allows Artmuse.net to grow tremendously and add many features. And thanks to the huge increase in disk size in our server, one of our most exciting plan is to feature other photographers, and visual artists. From paintings to photographs or potteries, we are very excited at the opportunity of showing the work of selected artists on Artmuse's site. This is offered free of charge, and based on a selection of artists that we feel are in tune with what we do. If your are an artists and want to be featured on Artmuse please send us some sample or a link to your site and we will contact you.

We have also added deals on photo equipment and art supplies that we hope will help some of our visitors find great prices on photo gears or other art items. From film and digital cameras or books and photography software to flashes, tripods, camera bags, paint brushes, art supplies etc., we hope that you will find something that can help you save a few dollars.

About the Photos on Artmuse

The photos shown on the site were shot with digital cameras (Nikon D100 or Olympus E-10) and with film cameras (Nikon F1, Nikon F2 or Nikon F100) using primarily Kodachrome 64 or Ektachrome E100G or GX slide film that was scanned.

Photos are available on print ranging in size from 8x10 to 24x36 and are individually corrected, sharpened, and printed.

Artmuse.net is an on-line gallery that feature nature photography However it is also a site where visitors looking for products at discount prices or coupons and deals on photo equipment can find what they are looking for like some of the items below that we found on the Net and we believe are great deals.

About the Paintings on Artmuse

The paintings featured on the sites are work of Jean who discovered painting relatively recently as he explored new form of expressing his vision of the world that surrounds him.

The painting are for the most part abstract and use unusual material such as red pepper powder to extract its unique color and take advantage of its texture.

Artmuse also features the work of other artists who are invited to show their work free of charge both as featured guest artists as well as part of the permanent collection of Artmuse.Net. Our goal is to provide a place for artists to feature their work along with friends and collaborators who share their value and care about the art.

Color temperature: The distribution of different light colours in continuous spectrum light sources is measured by its colour temperature in Kelvin. The Kelvin scale of temperature measures from the lowest possible temperature (absolute zero) with the same interval size as the normal Celsius (Centigrade) scale. For some special uses color temperature meters can be used, but this is seldom necessary. Colour film records these changes in light, while our eyes largely adjust automically to them. When using color transparency film you need either to use a film with the same color temperature as the light source or use filters (blue to increase the color temperature of the light, amber to decrease it.) Fortunately modern films are less sensitive to color temparature changes, and with negative film the filtration in the printing process can be used to produce normal color.

Aperture Definition: The aperture is the hole formed by the blades of the iris or diaphragm in the lens. The diaphragm in some compact cameras is incorporated into the shutter, using two overlapping L-shaped shutter blades that open different amounts to create different apertures. Most cameras have a separate mechanism, often with 6 or 8 blades, though some expensive lenses have more. Except when the lens is at full aperture, this gives hexagonal or octagonal apertures. Although theoretically a fully circular aperture is preferable, you are only likely to notice any difference when photographing subjects with out of focus highlights or flare spots. These give light blobs that take their shape from the aperture shape. Bright light source at night can also give star effects from each corner of the aperture. Although using small apertures increases depth of field, these also degrade the lens performance by diffraction. Most camera lenses give optimum performance around 2-3 stops below their maximum aperture. See relative aperture for a discussion of f-numbers and aperture size. The aperture is sometimes called the 'stop'. 'Aperture' is also the title of the most famous photography magazine in publication, founded by Minor White and others. Aperture also publish a wide range of fine photographic books.
